01 — Studio note
Feel is a system
Juice is not a layer you pour on at the end. It is the way the rules talk to the camera.
People ask for “game feel” as if it were a filter. In a Roblox place it is the collision between systems: how fast you leave the ground, when the UI gets out of the way, whether a round starts like a held breath or like a loading screen. If those pieces disagree, no amount of lighting saves it.
We prototype the loop before the lobby. A player should understand the verb in ten seconds without a tutorial dump. If they cannot, the verb is wrong — not the onboarding. That is a harder sentence to say in a meeting than it is to act on in an editor.
The same rule applies to a website. If the first scroll does not already feel like the studio, the rest of the pages are decoration. Type, rhythm, the way a panel arrives — that is the product.
